OSSSC postpones Sevak, Sevika & TLT exams scheduled on July 17 due to Congress’ statewide bandh

Bhubaneswar, July 16: The Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) has postponed the recruitment examination for the posts of Sevak, Sevika, and Tribal Language Teacher (TLT), which was originally scheduled for July 17, 2025.
The decision was taken in light of the statewide bandh announced by the Congress party, protesting the tragic death of FM College student Soumyashree Bisi.
In an official notification, the OSSSC stated that the new date for the postponed examination will be announced soon. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website of OSSSC for further updates and revised schedules.
“The preliminary examination for the posts of Sevak/Sevika and Tribal Language Teacher scheduled on 17.07.2025 is hereby postponed. However, exams scheduled for July 18, 19, 21, and 23 as per Notice No. 1333/OSSSC dated 17.06.2025 will be held as planned,” read the OSSSC notification.
The postponement comes amid growing public outrage over the death of 20-year-old Soumyashree, who set herself on fire on July 12 following alleged harassment by her college HoD. She succumbed to severe burn injuries on July 14 while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, prompting widespread protests and the bandh call.
