30 scooters destroyed as container catches fire on Chhatrapur Bypass in Ganjam

Bhubaneswar, Aug 8: A massive fire broke out on Friday on the Chhatrapur Bypass Road in Ganjam district, completely gutting a container truck transporting scooters. As many as 30 brand-new scooters were reduced to ashes in the incident, resulting in a significant loss.
The mishap occurred near the Ujjaleswari temple area when the container, reportedly en route from Pratapgarh to Andhra Pradesh, suddenly caught fire under mysterious circumstances. Eyewitnesses said smoke began billowing from the container, which quickly turned into a raging fire, engulfing the entire vehicle within minutes.
Alert locals immediately informed the fire services. A team of firefighters rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control after a challenging operation. However, by the time the fire was doused, all the two-wheelers inside the container had been completely destroyed.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. The driver managed to escape unharmed. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, though short-circuit or overheating possibilities are being considered. Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the source of the fire and assess the total value of the property loss.
