Over Rs 5,160 crore to be transferred to 1.03 crore women under fifth SUBHADRA instalment
Bhubaneswar, Aug 21: More than Rs 5,160 crore will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of 1,03,26,162 eligible beneficiaries under the fifth instalment of the SUBHADRA scheme on August 28, coinciding with Rakhi Purnima, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said on Friday.
A preparatory review meeting was held under Parida’s chairpersonship at the Women and Child Development Department conference hall in Bhubaneswar to assess arrangements for the disbursement programme, which will be held in Nayagarh district.
Officials of the Women and Child Development Department, Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) and representatives of various banks attended the meeting. Parida reviewed preparations related to Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), beneficiary identification, banking facilities and other logistical arrangements for the fifth instalment.
She directed officials and bank representatives to complete the DBT process within the stipulated timeline and strengthen banking arrangements so that beneficiaries can access the assistance without facing difficulties.
The Deputy Chief Minister also emphasised close coordination among all stakeholders and timely completion of preparations to ensure a smooth and seamless disbursement process.
The SUBHADRA scheme is a flagship initiative of the Odisha government aimed at providing financial assistance to eligible women through direct transfers into their bank accounts. The fifth instalment is expected to provide further financial support to more than one crore women beneficiaries across the state.
