Heatwave set to grip state: IMD warns of rising temperatures

Bhubaneswar, March 24: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a heatwave across the state in the next 4-5 days, with daytime temperatures expected to soar by 4-6 degrees Celsius.
Night temperatures are also likely to increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius, leading to overall discomfort. The rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures will result in hot and sultry conditions, making it difficult for people to cope with the intense heat.
Additionally, IMD has issued a yellow warning for six districts—Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur—predicting thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds. The Special Relief Commissioner has urged district collectors to stay vigilant and take necessary measures to mitigate potential damage.
Meanwhile, just two days ago, Mayurbhanj district witnessed heavy rainfall and hailstorms, which caused significant damage to crops and property. Farmers have reported substantial losses due to the sudden weather shift, adding to their distress amid ongoing climatic fluctuations. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely to provide relief where needed.
