Class X students shocked by science exam error, BSE assures fair evaluation

Bhubaneswar, March 1: Class X students appearing for the High School Certificate (HSC) examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) were taken aback after discovering a major error in the Science Set-C question paper. The blunder led to students attempting a 46-mark paper instead of the intended 50 marks, leaving them confused and anxious.
According to reports, a 4-mark question was missing from the Set-C Science paper. Students and teachers quickly flagged the issue, prompting the BSE to conduct an immediate review. Concerned parents and educators also raised their voices, demanding an explanation from the examination authorities.
Acknowledging the mistake, BSE President Srikant Tarai reassured students that the missing question would not negatively impact their scores. "Although there was an omission, we will take this into account during the evaluation process to ensure that students are not disadvantaged," he stated.
The BSE has assured corrective measures and urged students to remain calm, emphasizing that fairness will be maintained in the final assessment.
