Odisha to witness warmer nights, IMD predicts no significant weather change ahead

Bhubaneswar, Feb 11: Odisha has been witnessing a sharp contrast in temperatures, with hot days and cold nights over the past few days due to the influx of warm and moist air from the west and north.
However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional center in Bhubaneswar has predicted that nights will gradually become warmer, with the mercury rising over the next two days. This change in temperature patterns is expected to make daytime conditions more uncomfortable.
On Monday, at least 12 places in Odisha recorded minimum temperatures below 15°C, with G.Udayagiri being the coldest at 9°C, followed by Phulbani (9.5°C), Rourkela (9.6°C), and Jharsuguda (10.2°C). Other places like Semiliguda, Kirei, and Sundargarh also recorded low temperatures, while Bhubaneswar and Cuttack saw warmer nights at 17.9°C and 18°C, respectively.
In contrast, daytime temperatures crossed 35°C in four locations, with Jharsuguda recording the highest at 35.6°C, followed by Sundargarh (35.4°C), Bolangir, and Parlakhemundi (35.2°C). The IMD has also issued a yellow warning for dense fog in 11 districts, predicting visibility reduction to 50-200 meters until Wednesday. Despite these fluctuations, overall weather conditions will remain dry, with no major temperature changes expected in the coming days.
