Horrific murder near Rasulgarh sends shockwaves across Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Jan 8: In a shocking incident, a youth was brutally hacked to death near Rasulgarh Square in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday morning. The victim has been identified as Sahadev Nayak, president of the BMC Sanitation Employees Association and a police volunteer. The motive behind the murder remains unclear, although three individuals have been detained for questioning in connection with the crime.
According to reports, two assailants on a motorbike attacked Nayak near the Rasulgarh flyover using sharp weapons. The attackers gruesomely beheaded him, leaving him dead on the spot. Upon receiving information about a headless body on the highway, police rushed to the scene to begin their investigation.
Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra confirmed that the attackers have been identified. “We have detained three suspects and are interrogating them. The perpetrators will be apprehended soon,” he stated.
Sahadev’s wife alleged that the murder was linked to his efforts to combat the drug menace in the area, suggesting his activism made him a target.
The brutal killing has sent shockwaves through the city, particularly as it unfolds ahead of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention, which has drawn 10,000 Diaspora and foreign guests to Bhubaneswar.
