Eight workers publicly humiliated in Sundargarh over alleged misconduct
Bhubaneswar, Dec 12: In a shocking incident, eight workers from Murshidabad, West Bengal, were publicly stripped, beaten, and paraded with their hands tied in ropes by villagers in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Thursday. The incident occurred on Mission Road under Sundargarh Town police limits.
The trouble began when a woman accused one of the workers of breaking into her home and misbehaving with her. Enraged, members of her community stormed the residence of the migrant workers and subjected all eight to brutal assault. They were then forced to strip and paraded in public as punishment.
Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene but faced resistance as the angry mob turned on them. Despite the challenges, the police managed to disperse the crowd and escorted the workers to the police station. The worker accused of misconduct has been detained for investigation.
Subsequently, the woman filed a formal complaint with the Sundargarh Town police station, and further investigations are underway.
