MKCG Medical College expels five seniors over ragging allegations

Bhubaneswar, Nov 2: Five senior students from MKCG Medical College and Hospital have been permanently expelled from their hostel over allegations of ragging junior students, marking a strict response from the administration. Dean Professor Suchitra Dash stated that the anti-ragging committee conducted a comprehensive investigation before recommending these disciplinary actions.
Alongside the hostel expulsion, the students are also barred from receiving any scholarships, fellowships, or additional institutional benefits. Initially, the accused students were suspended from campus for six months, but these latest sanctions underscore the administration's commitment to curbing misconduct and ensuring student safety.
MKCG Medical College has recently come under scrutiny following rising complaints about senior students mistreating their juniors. Some affected junior students escalated their grievances to the National Medical Commission (NMC), prompting a directive for Dean Dash to investigate and address the issue thoroughly. The college’s recent actions reflect its stance against ragging and its efforts to maintain a safe learning environment for all students.
