Three laborers die of asphyxiation in Sambalpur

Bhubaneswar, Aug 24: Three laborers tragically died of asphyxiation, and one sustained critical injuries while working on a septic tank at Pukuda village under Jamankira police limits in Sambalpur district on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Srikant Munda, Bharat Rana, and Basant Dehury. Siddharth Mund, who was critically injured in the incident, has been shifted to Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital.
According to reports, the laborers were engaged in centering work on a septic tank for an under-construction toilet in Pukuda village. However, they suddenly lost consciousness due to suffocation. Others at the site quickly rescued the four laborers and rushed them to a nearby hospital, where three were declared dead by the doctors.
Siddharth Mund remains in critical condition and was immediately transferred to Sambalpur DHH for further treatment. The incident has sparked widespread outrage in the local community.
Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene and have initiated an investigation into the incident.
