Disproportionate assets lead to arrest of Kendrapara's Additional Civil Supplies Officer

Bhubaneswar, Aug 17: Vigilance officials arrested Pradeep Kumar Mohapatra, Additional Civil Supplies Officer of Kendrapara, on Saturday for possessing disproportionate assets.
Searches conducted on Mohapatra's properties revealed disproportionate assets, including two buildings in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, two expensive plots in the twin cities, 850 grams of gold, deposits exceeding Rs 2.86 crore, and cash amounting to Rs 1.21 lakh, according to a release issued by the Vigilance Department.
Mohapatra failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for these assets, leading to his arrest. He will be produced in court today. A case has been registered against Mohapatra under Vigilance Cell PS case number 08/2024.
Notably, Vigilance officials launched simultaneous searches on Friday at five locations in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Kendrapara in connection with the alleged possession of disproportionate assets by Mohapatra.
The searches were led by four Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), one Assistant Commandant, five Inspectors, and other supporting staff, based on search warrants issued by the Special Judge of Vigilance, Cuttack.
