Bhubaneswar, Aug 2: In a distressing incident on Friday, three family members—a man, his wife, and their son—were rescued from a house in the Cuttack CDA area after allegedly attempting to commit suicide by ingesting poison.

The incident occurred in the CDA area under the jurisdiction of Markat Nagar police station in Cuttack city. The family was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment. It is believed that their attempt to take their own lives was driven by financial difficulties, specifically their inability to pay the house rent. They had reportedly informed the landlord the previous day of their intention to vacate the property.

According to the house owner, the family had been unable to pay rent for the past two to three months and had previously threatened to end their lives. The landlord had notified the police about these threats two months ago. Both police and a scientific team have arrived at the scene and are investigating the incident.
