Armed robbers loot over Rs 9 lakh from Bargarh bank amid heatwave
Bargarh, April 19: Exploiting the sparse customer presence amid the scorching heat, two armed individuals raided the Bargarh District Burpali Regional Utkal Gramin Bank around 3:00 pm on Thursday, absconding with Rs 9.26 lakh in cash.
Reports indicate that with the bank's shutter partially closed, the assailants barged in, coercing the two accountants to relinquish the cash from the vault. At the time, no customers, staff, or security personnel were present; the manager had stepped out for lunch, while treasurers Mamata Bhoi and Chandan Sahu were dining.
Seizing the opportunity, the culprits swiftly seized the cash and fled unhinderedUpon learning of the robbery, the bank manager promptly alerted the authorities. Police swiftly arrived at the scene, initiating an investigation. As of now, however, the perpetrators remain at large.
Efforts to apprehend the criminals are ongoing, with law enforcement yet to provide updates on their progress.
