Odisha Police crack down on tattoos among personnel

Bhubaneswar, April 10: Commissionerate Police and Special Security Battalion have mandated the removal of tattoos within 15 days for officers.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Security) has issued a press release instructing officers to remove tattoos within a 15-day period to avoid further consequences. From now on, uniformed personnel are prohibited from having tattoos on their face, neck, and hands.
This decision was made to uphold decorum and professionalism within the force.
"A significant number of personnel have tattoos on their bodies, which tarnishes the image of the Battalion and Odisha Police as these tattoos are offensive, obscene, and derogatory in nature. After careful consideration, it has been decided that visible tattoos while wearing a uniform are not permissible," stated the release.
"All Guard In-Charges are instructed to compile a list of personnel with noticeable tattoos and direct them to permanently remove them within 15 days of receiving the order. Failure to comply will result in appropriate departmental action. Once again, it is strongly advised to refrain from getting tattoos on the face, neck, and hands to maintain a professional standard," it further stated.
