Criminal Raghu Biswal nabbed in late-night encounter in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Dec 28: The Mancheswar police in Bhubaneswar, the capital city, apprehended and injured the infamous criminal Raghu Biswal during a confrontation as he attempted to escape towards Cuttack on a motorcycle with his accomplice Punia Nayak late Wednesday night. A pistol was recovered from Raghu's possession during the operation.
Raghu is a wanted fugitive with a criminal record spanning over 32 cases of dacoity, loot, and arms offenses across various police stations in Bhubaneswar. Particularly notorious in the Nandankanan area, he is affiliated with the infamous Raghu Rao gang, as stated by Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh.
According to reports, the Mancheswar police team encountered Raghu and Punia during a patrol on Wednesday night. Upon spotting the police, the notorious criminals opened fire and attempted to flee towards Cuttack via the Bhubaneswar-Balijatra road. However, Raghu sustained a gunshot wound to the left leg in the ensuing exchange of fire with the police, while Punia managed to evade capture.
Following the incident, Raghu was initially taken to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and later transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for further treatment. Once Raghu recovers from his bullet injury, the police plan to conduct an interrogation to gather information about his criminal activities and associates.
