Bali Yatra 2025 to begin in Cuttack from November 5

Bhubaneswar, Sept 12: The world-famous Bali Yatra, celebrating Odisha’s rich maritime history, will be held in Cuttack from November 5 to November 12 this year. The week-long extravaganza, which draws lakhs of visitors annually, is one of Asia’s largest open-air trade and cultural fairs.
In a major change this year, the festival will be hosted exclusively at the Lower Bali Yatra ground, spread over nearly 60 acres. The Upper ground has been designated for parking to ensure smooth traffic flow and better crowd management, addressing the congestion issues faced in previous editions.
Officials have announced that the allotment of plots to traders and exhibitors will be done online, making the process more transparent and convenient. This digital initiative is expected to attract more participants while reducing delays and disputes.
Bali Yatra commemorates the voyage of ancient Odia sailors, known as Sadhabas, who set sail for Bali, Java, Sumatra, and other Southeast Asian regions centuries ago for trade and cultural exchange. Today, the fair has grown into a grand celebration featuring trade, food stalls, cultural performances, and exhibitions, symbolizing Odisha’s enduring maritime heritage.
