Odisha Assembly Speaker calls all-party meet ahead of upcoming session

Bhubaneswar, Sept 11: Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Surama Padhy, has convened an all-party meeting on September 16 to ensure smooth functioning of the upcoming Assembly session. The session, which will be a short one, is scheduled to begin on September 18 and conclude on September 25, with only seven working days.
According to sources, the all-party meeting will provide a platform for leaders from different political parties to deliberate on ways to maintain constructive debate, discipline, and mutual respect inside the House. Speaker Padhy is expected to urge members to uphold the dignity of the Assembly while addressing public issues effectively within the limited timeframe.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary of Odisha has issued instructions to all departmental secretaries to remain fully prepared for the session. They have been directed to provide accurate and well-documented replies to questions raised in the House. Secretaries have also been advised to personally monitor the preparation of responses.
Additionally, the state government has asked officials to avoid foreign tours and restrict travel outside Odisha during this period, ensuring their availability to handle Assembly-related responsibilities.
