Hindalco’s Meenakshi Coal Mine organises dental awareness camps for schoolchildren

BHUBANESWAR :As part of its commitment to community health and well-being, Hindalco’s Meenakshi Coal Mine organised a dental awareness camp very recently at Durubaga Upper Primary School and Kiripsira Upper Primary School at Hemgir in Sundargarh district. The initiative, held under the company’s CSR programme, aimed to instil healthy oral hygiene practices among schoolchildren and create awareness about the importance of preventive dental care.

During the interactive sessions, the company’s Medical Officer from the Mobile Health Unit highlighted the significance of dental hygiene, proper brushing techniques, and the long-term benefits of maintaining oral health. The students actively participated in the programme and showed enthusiasm in learning about simple habits that can help them maintain strong and healthy teeth.

To further encourage these practices, dental kits were distributed to all participating students at the end of the programme. The sessions were attended by the ex-Sarpanch of Kiripsira, school teachers, and the company’s Head-HR, Shri Sharad Hurkat, who appreciated the effort and urged students to adopt these habits in their daily lives. Nearly 70 children benefited from this awareness drive.

Speaking about the initiative, Shri Kailash Pandey, President, Hindalco, said: “At Hindalco, we believe that good health is the foundation of strong communities. Through our CSR initiatives, we are committed not only to provide healthcare facilities but also to spread awareness about preventive care among children, who are the future of our nation. The dental awareness camps are a step in this direction, empowering young students with knowledge and habits that will help them lead healthier lives,.” The Camp was smoothly conducted by Ms Niharika Sahu, the GM CSR of Meenakshi Mines.
