Man kills brother-in-law in Bhubaneswar, dumps body on railway tracks to fake accident
Bhubaneswar, Nov 7: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly murdered his brother-in-law over personal enmity and subsequently dumped his body on nearby railway tracks in an attempt to pass off the killing as an accidental death in Bhubaneswar.
The incident took place in the VSS Nagar area under Saheed Nagar police station limits. The accused has been identified as Suresh Singh, a native of Nepal, who was residing at Tarini Basti in VSS Nagar with his wife, originally from Ganjam district.
According to police sources, Suresh had been suspecting his wife of having an extramarital affair and was allegedly physically assaulting her over the past few days. Unable to tolerate the alleged harassment, his wife left their residence and moved to her parents' house.
Her brother, identified as Pathani Sahu, who was also residing in VSS Nagar, reportedly intervened to resolve the dispute and mediate between the couple.
However, Suresh allegedly developed suspicion against Pathani and attacked him with a stone during a heated confrontation. The assault proved fatal, and Pathani died on the spot.
In an attempt to conceal the murder, the accused allegedly carried the body to nearby railway tracks and placed it there to make the death appear to be a train accident.
Following the incident, Saheed Nagar police took Suresh into custody. Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder.
