Tragic collision on NH 55 claims lives of two motorcyclists in Rairakhol

Bhubaneswar, Dec 27: In a tragic incident, two young individuals riding a Royal Enfield motorcycle met with a fatal accident when a speeding oil-tanker collided with them from behind on NH 55, near the Horticulture office in Rairakhol town, Sambalpur district, on Wednesday.
The victims, identified as Shamsundar Bhitiria from Ratha Sahi in Rairakhol and Shubhendu Sahu from the bus stand area, lost their lives while on their way home.
The impact of the collision was so intense that the motorcycle ricocheted off the road, and one of the riders suffered a severe leg injury. Tragically, the collision proved fatal for both individuals.
Following the accident, the truck driver fled the scene, prompting local residents to stage a road blockade, expressing frustration with the administration's perceived negligence in preventing frequent accidents at the same location. The blockade stranded over a hundred vehicles on both sides of the road.
Upon receiving information, the police arrived at the scene. Subsequently, Rairakhol MLA Rohit Pujari and the SDPO intervened, pacifying the agitated crowd and addressing their concerns.
