Intensive counting underway as IT raids on liquor baron continue

Samablpur, Dec 9: While the extensive raids on the liquor baron in Boudh are ongoing, the Income Tax department and bank officials have intensified the process of counting unaccounted cash with additional manpower and machinery.
"With 25 counting machines at work, and the involvement of 40-50 staff, we are committed to expediting the process using our available resources. Out of the 176 bags filled with cash, we have completed counting for 40 bags, totaling Rs 46 crore, in just two days. The ongoing process aims to conclude soon," stated Bhagat Behera, regional SBI manager, Bolangir.
In an effort to ensure efficiency, additional counting machines are on standby, and engineers from Sambalpur are ready to address any technical issues that may arise during the counting process.
Despite the second Saturday being a holiday, all bank employees have been dedicated to the counting work.
A 20-member Income Tax analysis team from Hyderabad arrived in Bolangir to initiate an investigation. The experts conducted inspections at Sudapada and Titilagarh manufacturing units, with one team visiting the Bolangir SBI branch where the recovered cash is undergoing counting.
