WODC allocates Rs 1 crore grant to enhance Mahanadi Netra Hospital

Bhubaneswar, Dec 8: In a move to address eye-related issues in Western Odisha, the Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) has announced a financial grant for Mahanadi Netra Hospital in Subarnapur district. The Chairman of WODC, Asit Tripathy, shared this information following a review of ongoing development projects financed by the council in the district.
During the review, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalized between Subarnapur District Collector Bimalendu Ray and Mahanadi Netra Hospital officials. The allocated budget for this initiative is Rs 1 crore, and the hospital's capacity is set to increase from the current 30 beds to 80 beds. Tripathy emphasized that the hospital aims to become a Center of Excellence in ophthalmology for Western Odisha.
Separately, discussions were held with Collector Ananya Das regarding the establishment of a Weavers Training Centre in Kardola, Sambalpur. Tripathy also addressed issues related to Gangadhar Meher College and the proposed construction of a town hall auditorium. The improvement of the district library and the development of a new tourist attraction, Handloom Mall in Subarnapur district, were also part of the agenda.
