Legal woes intensify for Tirtol MLA: Complaint filed against marriage registration

Bhubaneswar, Oct 7: Tirtol MLA Bijay Shankar Das is facing increasing legal troubles as his former girlfriend, Somalika Dash, has officially filed a complaint against his reported application for marriage registration with another woman. Somalika submitted her complaint at the District Registration Office in Cuttack, expressing her concerns over the registration application made by the BJD legislator.
Somalika questioned the legitimacy of this application, given that their legal dispute is still pending. She expressed her dismay, saying, "How can he marry someone without anyone's notice when the matter is sub-judice? The legislator is applying for marriage registration with another woman."
She further elaborated, "I have filed a complaint objecting to the application submitted by Bijay Shankar for the registration of his marriage." Somalika alleged instances of 'police inaction' and claimed to have experienced 'mental harassment' by the authorities in connection with the case against MLA Bijay Shankar.
Somalika voiced her frustration, revealing that she has been constantly shuttling between the police station and the court. She pointed out that her statements have been recorded multiple times by the police, and there have been frequent changes in the Investigation In-Charge (IIC) at Jagatsinghpur Police Station, with two of them receiving promotions. She lamented the lack of substantial action taken by the police, emphasizing that MLA Bijay Shankar's political position seemed to be influencing the situation. She asserted, "If he were an ordinary citizen, he could have been arrested."
Somalika conveyed her concerns to the media, shedding light on the ongoing legal complexities surrounding the case.
