Odisha Govt makes biometric attendance app mandatory for SSEPD staff

Bhubaneswar, Sept 3: In a major push for digital governance, the Odisha government has made it mandatory for all employees of the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) to mark attendance through a mobile-based biometric app, effective September 1, 2025.
The order, issued by Tapan Kumar Dalai, Secretary of SSEPD, was circulated to all District Social Security Officers (DSSOs), directing them to ensure strict and immediate implementation across every district.
As per the circular, attendance data captured via the app will be the sole basis for salary disbursement beginning next month. This move is aimed at ensuring transparency, minimizing irregularities, and bringing greater accountability in workforce management.
To assist employees, the department has appointed Binit Bikash Mohapatra (+91-708841904) as the nodal contact person for resolving technical problems, including login or logout errors.
Officials believe the new system will not only streamline employee monitoring but also reinforce the government’s commitment to efficiency, accountability, and digital-first governance.
