Odisha extends free Nidaan Diagnostic services to AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries

Bhubaneswar, Sept 1: In a major step towards strengthening healthcare delivery, the Odisha Government has announced that free diagnostic services under its flagship Nidaan scheme will now be available at AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries across the state.
Health & Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling said the decision aims to make modern diagnostic facilities accessible to patients seeking treatment in ayurvedic and homeopathic institutions. The services will be extended to nine medical colleges, AYUSH hospitals, and more than 1,100 dispensaries functioning in different parts of Odisha.
Until now, many AYUSH centres prescribed medicines based largely on symptomatic evaluation, often without adequate diagnostic evidence. The inclusion of free diagnostic support is expected to bridge this gap, ensuring more accurate treatment and timely medical interventions.
“This initiative will bring a transformative shift in healthcare delivery and ensure more precise treatment for people across Odisha,” Minister Mahaling stated.
The government believes this move will benefit thousands of patients, particularly in rural and tribal areas, by reducing out-of-pocket expenses and enhancing trust in AYUSH healthcare services.
