Bhubaneswar, July 19: In a shocking incident reported from Manda village under the Jashipur police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, a man allegedly killed his wife following a heated domestic quarrel on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Mukhtiar Naik, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

The victim has been identified as Bilasi Naik. According to initial reports, the couple got into a verbal altercation that soon escalated into physical violence. In a fit of rage, Mukhtiar allegedly assaulted his wife brutally, leading to her death on the spot.

Local residents informed the police after discovering the woman’s body. A team from Jashipur police station immediately reached the location, detained the accused, and sent the body for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.

A scientific team also arrived at the scene to collect forensic evidence, including blood samples and possible weapons used in the crime.

Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway to determine the full sequence of events and whether any prior domestic violence complaints had been filed by the victim.
