Five held in Bhubaneswar for interstate illegal arms trade; firearms, ammunition seized

Bhubaneswar, June 13: In a major breakthrough against illegal arms trafficking, the Airport Police Station in Bhubaneswar conducted a successful raid in the Pokhariput area and apprehended five accused, seizing a cache of firearms and other incriminating materials. The operation was launched based on reliable intelligence inputs.
During the raid, police intercepted a suspicious vehicle and detained five individuals. Among them, four were identified as interstate arms traffickers hailing from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The fifth accused, a local resident of Salepur in Cuttack, was reportedly present to procure the firearms from the gang.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Prabin Kumar Singh (40), Raghvendra Singh (28), Abhishek Rajput (31), Indrajit Singh (38), and Sk. Sakil (28). The police seized four 7.65mm semi-automatic pistols, one six-round revolver, a single-shot firearm, 18 live rounds, a car (Reg. No. GJ-27-DM-5196), and five mobile phones from their possession.
Prabin Kumar Singh, originally from Ballia, U.P., had been residing on rent in the Jatani Gate area of Bhubaneswar for the past two months and is said to be a key player in the illegal arms network. Further investigation is underway to trace their supply chain and verify criminal backgrounds.
