Former Kamakhyanagar MLA Prasanna Pattnaik passes away at 74
Bhubaneswar, May 30: Veteran politician and former Kamakhyanagar MLA Prasanna Pattnaik passed away on Thursday night while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 74 years old. Pattnaik had been ailing for some time and breathed his last surrounded by family members and close associates.
Prasanna Pattnaik holds the distinction of being the first MLA from Odisha to be elected on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He represented the Kamakhyanagar constituency in the Odisha Legislative Assembly three times—twice as a BJP candidate and once under the banner of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Throughout his political career, Pattnaik was widely respected for his commitment to development and welfare. He focused on improving infrastructure, education, and healthcare in his constituency and worked relentlessly for the upliftment of the poor and marginalized sections of society. His dedication earned him deep admiration and affection from the people of Kamakhyanagar.
Following his demise, condolences poured in from across party lines. Leaders remembered him as a seasoned politician who made significant contributions to the growth and progress of Odisha.
