Odisha braces for rain as low-pressure area emerges in Bay of Bengal

Bhubaneswar, Sep 29: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) morning bulletin, a low-pressure area has developed over the northeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal.
The formation of this low-pressure area is attributed to the cyclonic circulation over Myanmar and the adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to an altitude of 7.6 km above mean sea level. Over the next 48 hours, it is expected to intensify into a well-marked low-pressure area and move northwestwards toward the northern Odisha and adjacent West Bengal coasts.

The forecast includes the expectation of heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) in one or two places across districts such as Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak.
