Odisha tourist killed in Pahalgam terror attack: Prashant Satpathy’s body to reach Bhubaneswar tonight

Bhubaneswar, April 23: The mortal remains of Prashant Satpathy, the Odisha tourist who tragically lost his life in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, will be brought back to his home state today. A resident of Balasore district, Prashant was on a family vacation with his wife and nine-year-old son when the terrorist attack unfolded, claiming 26 lives.
According to the Office of the Resident Commissioner of Odisha in New Delhi, Prashant’s body will be flown from Srinagar to Delhi, arriving at 2:35 PM. It will then be transported to Bhubaneswar on a late evening flight, expected to reach the capital city at around 9:45 PM. His grieving family will receive the body at the airport, where arrangements are being made for his final rites.
The heartbreaking incident has left the people of Odisha in deep sorrow and anger. The attack occurred as the Satpathy family was disembarking from a ropeway when unidentified terrorists opened fire. Prashant was hit by a bullet to the head. Despite remaining conscious for some time, he eventually succumbed to his injuries—his wife Priyadarshini recalling the harrowing delay of nearly 90 minutes for rescue teams to arrive.
The state mourns the loss of an innocent life, and calls for justice grow louder as details of the attack continue to emerge.
