Odisha govt sets up three new Civil Judge (Junior Division) courts to boost judicial access

Bhubaneswar, April 23: In a significant administrative move aimed at strengthening the state’s judicial infrastructure, the Odisha government has established three new Civil Judge (Junior Division) courts across different districts. This step is seen as a major stride towards improving access to justice at the grassroots level.
As per an official release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the new courts have been set up at Baliapal in Balasore district, Lephripara in Sundargarh district, and Rengali in Sambalpur district. These courts were constituted following consultations with the Orissa High Court, and the proposal received formal approval from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
With the operationalization of these courts, the jurisdiction of the existing Civil Judge (Junior Division) courts over the revenue tehsils of Baliapal, Lephripara, and Rengali has been withdrawn. The newly established courts will now independently handle civil cases originating in these areas.
This development is expected to not only reduce the burden on existing courts but also expedite the legal process, thereby ensuring faster delivery of justice to the local population.
