Double delight for India: Gold and silver in shooting at Asian Games

New Delhi, Sep 27: On Wednesday, at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, the Indian women's 25m pistol team achieved a remarkable feat by securing the coveted gold medal. Simultaneously, the Indian women's 50m rifle 3-position team displayed outstanding prowess, earning themselves a well-deserved silver medal.
In the gripping 25m pistol team event, the formidable trio consisting of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan showcased their exceptional skills. After the precision and rapid rounds, they amassed an impressive total score of 1759. This outstanding performance allowed them to outshine their competitors from China and the Republic of Korea, ultimately claiming the highest honor on the podium.
In the equally thrilling 50m rifle team event, the Indian squad comprising Sift Kaur Samra, Ashi Chouksey, and Manini Kaushik put up a stellar performance, finishing with a commendable score of 1764 in the final round of the Asian Games 2023. Their exceptional marksmanship earned them the silver medal.
It's worth noting that China secured the gold medal in this event, while the Republic of Korea settled for the bronze. In the individual qualification rounds, Sift displayed exceptional skill by amassing a total of 594 points, securing a second-place finish. Additionally, Ashi's impressive performance earned her a respectable sixth place in the same qualification, allowing her to advance to the women's 50m rifle 3-position final.
