One killed, several policemen injured in two back-to-back accidents on NH-16 in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, April 10: In a tragic sequence of events late Wednesday night, a truck driver lost his life and several police personnel sustained serious injuries in two separate road accidents on National Highway-16 near the Baramunda overbridge in Bhubaneswar.
The first accident occurred when a mini-truck transporting chickens from Cuttack to Khordha lost control and rammed into a road divider. The force of the impact caused the vehicle to overturn and crash into an electric pole. Despite being seriously injured, the driver managed to crawl out of the wrecked vehicle. However, in a tragic turn of events, he was run over by a speeding heavy vehicle while attempting to move to safety. He died on the spot.
Soon after, Khandagiri police arrived at the site to manage the situation and regulate traffic. While on duty, a speeding truck coming from the Vani Vihar side struck three policemen. Among the injured were PCR van driver Chittaranjan Pattnaik and constable Manoj Meher, both of whom were rushed to Capital Hospital in critical condition.
The truck involved in the second crash fled the scene. Police have launched a search for the absconding vehicle and are continuing their investigation.
