Odisha to implement 'Dhadi Darshan' at Puri Temple, focus on transparency and devotee comfort

Bhubaneswar, April 8: In a significant announcement concerning the administration of temples in Odisha, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Tuesday confirmed that the long-awaited Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee will be officially constituted within a week.
The announcement came during his visit to the famous Tara Tarini temple in Berhampur, where he addressed the media about the state government’s broader efforts to reform temple governance across Odisha.
Harichandan said the formation of the Managing Committee marks a major step toward improving transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency at the world-renowned Jagannath Temple in Puri. “The Committee will be responsible for overseeing key administrative decisions. One of the first proposals to be tabled is the relocation of the temple hundis (donation boxes), which will only be done after due approval from the Committee and the State Government,” he said.
In addition, the Minister announced the upcoming introduction of a queue management system—‘Dhadi Darshan’—to streamline the movement of devotees. This new system is expected to be rolled out by the end of the month and aims to enhance the darshan experience for the lakhs of devotees who visit the temple daily.
