Jagannath Temple in Puri to remain closed for five hours tomorrow for Ram Navami rituals

Bhubaneswar, April 5: The Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri will remain closed to devotees for five hours on April 6 (tomorrow) in observance of Ram Navami, the sacred birth anniversary of Lord Ram. The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has officially announced that darshan of the Sibling Deities—Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra—will not be allowed from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM as special rituals will be conducted during this time.
Ram Navami, which falls on the ninth day of the bright fortnight of the Chaitra month, holds significant spiritual importance in the Hindu calendar. It commemorates the divine birth of Lord Ram, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
As per the temple's age-old traditions, the Dutta Mohapatra servitors and Khadiprasad Daitapati servitors will carry out the special birth ceremony and associated rituals within the sanctum. These rituals are held in a highly spiritual and sacred atmosphere, making it a solemn occasion that calls for the temporary suspension of public access to the deities.
