Odisha to introduce new syllabus for classes I to VIII under NEP 2020

Bhubaneswar, March 22: The Odisha government is set to implement a revised syllabus for students in classes I to VIII in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This move aims to enhance the quality of education and align the curriculum with national standards.
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond made the announcement on Saturday, stating that a special committee has been formed to oversee the curriculum revision. The new syllabus is scheduled for rollout between March 26 and 27. “After the implementation of NEP-2020, our department has taken the initiative to overhaul the syllabus. The new curriculum for classes I to VIII will be introduced soon, and the committee is already working on it,” Minister Gond told the media.
Addressing the issue of school admissions, the Minister highlighted a key policy shift. Unlike the central guideline requiring children to be six years old by March 31 for admission, Odisha has extended this deadline to September 1. Additionally, the School and Mass Education department clarified that there is no upper age limit for admission. Parents can apply through the RTE-PARDARSHI portal.
