Odisha STF busts illegal gun manufacturing unit in Cuttack, seizes 30 firearms

Bhubaneswar, March 13: In a major crackdown on illegal arms production, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch raided an illegal gun manufacturing unit in the Bayalis Mouza area of Cuttack district on Thursday. Acting on a tip-off, STF officials seized over 30 firearms and arrested four individuals linked to the operation.
The identities of the arrested persons have not yet been disclosed, but preliminary investigations suggest that the illegal unit had been operating for several days, supplying firearms to various parts of the state. Authorities believe the weapons were being manufactured and distributed to criminal networks, posing a significant threat to law and order.
STF officials are conducting further interrogations to trace the supply chain and identify potential buyers. Meanwhile, the raid was still underway at the time of the last report, with officials searching for additional weapons and evidence. The Odisha Crime Branch has intensified efforts to crack down on illegal arms manufacturing and curb the rising instances of firearm-related crimes in the state.
