Odisha Vigilance arrests State Transport Authority Joint Commissioner for DA

Bhubaneswar, March 7: In a major anti-corruption crackdown, Odisha Vigilance has arrested Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, Joint Commissioner of the State Transport Authority (STA), Cuttack, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. A case has been registered against him at the Bhubaneswar Vigilance police station, and he will be produced in court today.
During extensive searches at multiple locations, Vigilance officials unearthed massive assets in Mohanty’s name, including three multi-storeyed buildings, 11 plots, and a farmhouse spread over 14 acres. Investigators also discovered a payment of Rs. 1 crore towards a luxury 4-BHK flat in Bhubaneswar and two benami flats in Puri.
In addition to immovable properties, officials seized 2.1 kg of gold, Rs. 17.55 lakh in cash, and two benami four-wheelers. Despite being questioned, Mohanty failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for his amassed wealth.
The Vigilance department is continuing its investigation to uncover possible links to corruption and illicit financial transactions. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings.
