Seven arrested for black marketing India-England ODI tickets

Bhubaneswar, Feb 7: In a major crackdown ahead of the highly anticipated India-England ODI at Barabati Stadium, Dargha Bazar police arrested seven individuals for illegally reselling tickets at exorbitant prices.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted surprise raids at multiple locations, leading to the arrest of the accused. Authorities seized 25 tickets, ₹30,000 in cash, three mobile phones, and two motorcycles from their possession.
With the India-England match scheduled for February 9, cricket enthusiasts across Odisha are scrambling to secure tickets. However, black marketeers have taken advantage of the demand by purchasing tickets in bulk through hired laborers and reselling them at inflated prices. Reports indicate that tickets originally priced at ₹1,100 were being sold for as high as ₹7,000.
Following intelligence inputs, police swiftly launched operations to curb the illegal activity. Authorities have urged the public to avoid purchasing tickets from unauthorized sellers and warned of strict action against those involved in ticket black marketing.
