Odisha SRC issues advisory as dense fog likely to disrupt normal life

Bhubaneswar, Feb 1: With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting dense fog across several districts of Odisha, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued an advisory to all Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) of the affected regions to ensure public safety.
The SRC has directed police and transport officials to take precautionary measures, including regulating vehicular movement on highways, to prevent road accidents due to poor visibility. Authorities have been urged to deploy traffic personnel and issue necessary advisories to commuters.
As per the IMD forecast, dense fog is expected from Saturday night to Sunday morning in districts including Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Angul, Keonjhar, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Kandhamal.
Additionally, dense fog is likely to persist in Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Ganjam, and Gajapati from Sunday night to Monday morning. These areas have been placed under a ‘Yellow Warning’ by the IMD.
The SRC has urged local authorities to take proactive steps to ensure road safety and minimize disruptions caused by low visibility, advising citizens to travel cautiously during early morning hours.
