Odisha-Chhattisgarh border operation leaves three Maoists dead

Bhubaneswar, Jan 3: In a significant breakthrough, security forces eliminated three Maoists during a joint operation near the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border on Friday. The operation targeted Maoist strongholds in Odisha’s Nuapada district and Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district, beginning late on the night of January 2 and extending into January 3.
At around 11 am, a fierce exchange of fire broke out at the Atang Forest, a known Maoist hideout located in the border region. The joint operation was conducted by the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Odisha, Chhattisgarh Special Forces, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), demonstrating coordinated efforts to curb Maoist activities in the area.
Security forces recovered the bodies of three Maoists along with five firearms, including sophisticated weapons, from the encounter site. As per the latest reports, intermittent firing is still ongoing, and additional reinforcements have been deployed to the area. Further updates are awaited as the operation progresses, aimed at dismantling the Maoist network in the region.
