Two-year-old crushed to death by truck in Sundargarh, triggers protests

Bhubaneswar, Dec 24: A tragic accident claimed the life of a two-year-old girl on NH-143 near Lalajiram Petrol Pump under Biramitrapur police station in Sundargarh district on Tuesday. The child fell from the bike she was riding with her parents and was crushed by a speeding truck.
Sources revealed that the parents, Abhishek Majhi and his wife Manisha, were on their way to their hometown, Keria in Jharkhand, from Vedavyasa. The toddler slipped from her mother’s lap onto the road, and a truck coming from the opposite direction ran over her, killing her on the spot.
The devastating incident led to widespread outrage among locals, who staged a blockade on the highway, condemning reckless driving and demanding justice. Police intervened to pacify the protesters and clear the road.
A heart-wrenching scene unfolded as the grieving mother wailed beside her child’s lifeless body, while the father attempted to console her. Police are investigating to identify and apprehend the truck driver.
