Half-burnt body found in Mayurbhanj market, police suspect foul play

Bhubaneswar, Dec 17: A half-burnt, unidentified body was discovered at the weekly market in Kendujiani, Mayurbhanj district, on Tuesday morning, causing panic among locals.
Eyewitnesses reported the grim sight, stating that the condition of the body made identification nearly impossible. Local traders, who arrived early at the market, were shocked to find the charred remains lying in the open.
Upon receiving information, a team from Thakurmunda police station reached the spot and began an investigation. To assist in gathering evidence, a scientific team from Baripada has also been called in. The body will be sent for post-mortem examination once the forensic team completes its preliminary investigation.
Initial police suspicions suggest that the victim may have been murdered elsewhere, and the body was later dumped and set on fire to destroy evidence. As of now, the deceased’s identity and origin remain unclear.
Police officials have assured a thorough investigation into the case, urging locals to come forward with any relevant information.
