Seventh arrest made in Cuttack college student gangrape case

Bhubaneswar, Dec 3: Commissionerate Police have arrested another individual in connection with the gangrape of a college student in Cuttack, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to seven. The latest accused, identified as Badal Sahu from Nayagarh, was apprehended in Visakhapatnam.
The incident, which occurred last month, had previously led to the arrest of six individuals on November 8. The survivor’s family, however, claimed that one accused was still absconding, prompting further investigation.
According to police reports, the victim’s ordeal began when her boyfriend, with the assistance of a café owner under Purighat police limits, secretly recorded an intimate video of her at the establishment. Using the footage for blackmail, he lured her to a house in Baranga, where he and his friends repeatedly assaulted her.
The case has sparked outrage, highlighting the need for stronger measures against sexual violence. Police continue their investigation to ensure justice for the survivor.
