Odisha Government suspends Hemgir Tehsildar over negligence allegations

Bhubaneswar, Nov 30: The Odisha government has suspended Hemgir Tehsildar Lavanyendu Mohanty for alleged negligence, harassment, corruption, and frequent absences. The disciplinary action was initiated by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department following a detailed report from the District Collector.
The immediate cause of Mohanty’s suspension was his absence from a critical monthly revenue meeting chaired by the District Collector, without prior permission. The meeting was considered vital, and his absence was deemed a serious offence.
The Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue and Disaster Management issued the suspension order, citing past complaints and the tehsildar’s failure to fulfill his responsibilities.
As per the suspension order, Mohanty will be stationed at the Sundargarh Collectorate and is barred from leaving the district headquarters without the Collector's approval. He has also been directed to hand over his responsibilities immediately.
The official notification stated, “A disciplinary proceeding against Sri Lavanyendu Mohanty, OAS-A(JB), Tahasildar, Hemgir, is under consideration. Therefore, the Governor of Odisha, under Rule-12 of OCS (CC&A) Rules, 1962, has placed him under immediate suspension.”
