Odisha Law Minister refutes opposition allegations on minor safety

Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Thursday dismissed the Opposition's claims that the state government was failing to prevent violence against minors and ensure their safety. Terming the allegations as "completely baseless," Harichandan emphasized the government’s commitment to tackling crimes against women and children through swift investigations and speedy trials.
Speaking in response to an adjournment motion by BJD MLA Pramila Mallick, Harichandan highlighted ongoing efforts in cases of violence against women and minors in areas such as Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Kunchinda. He assured the Assembly that investigations in these cases are progressing, and stringent action will be taken against the guilty.
The minister further stated that in all reported cases, the accused have already been arrested and placed under judicial custody. He reiterated the government's resolve to prioritize the safety and security of women and children, underlining a zero-tolerance policy towards such crimes in Odisha.
