Public fury after boy claimed to be Lord Vishnu is worshipped with Tulsi leaves

Bhubaneswar, Nov 16: A photo showing a boy being worshipped with Tulsi leaves at his feet, claimed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation. Critics have slammed the act as a misuse of religious beliefs, with Odisha Samajsebi Mahasangha filing a formal complaint against Kasinath Mishra at Khandagiri police station.
According to the complaint, Mishra, who runs an ashram called Baikuntha Dham in Khandagiri, has been promoting his minor son as Lord Vishnu’s incarnation. He allegedly places Tulsi leaves and the Bhagavad Gita at his son’s feet during rituals, which members of the social outfit described as disrespectful to Hindu traditions.
The complainants also accused Mishra of violating the Right to Education Act by keeping the boy out of school. Reports suggest that Mishra has taken over practices similar to those of Baba Sarathi, previously known for controversial activities.
Police are investigating the allegations.
