CCTV cameras installed at Bharatpur police station after controversy

Bhubaneswar, Sept 24: In a significant move, 16 CCTV cameras have been installed at Bharatpur Police Station, which had previously faced public outrage for lacking surveillance equipment.
The cameras have been strategically placed both inside and outside the station to enhance transparency and accountability. According to sources, plans are underway to install nine additional cameras.
This development follows a controversy involving the alleged misconduct of an Indian Army officer and his fiancée at the station. The installation comes after the Orissa High Court expressed its displeasure on Monday, noting that 57 out of 650 police stations in the state were without CCTV cameras.
In response, the court directed the Additional Director General (Modernization) to submit a report on the status of CCTV installations in police stations statewide, prompting the swift installation of cameras at Bharatpur Police Station.
