Two fatalities in separate elephant attacks in Mayurbhanj

Bhubaneswar, Sept 24: As man-animal conflicts escalate, two individuals have lost their lives, and three others have sustained critical injuries due to separate elephant attacks in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district within the last 24 hours.
A herd of elephants entered Mayurbhanj a few days ago, causing chaos in the region. One elephant strayed from the herd and trampled Raghunath Hembram to death in Paktia Sonpuria village, located under Shulingpada police limits. In addition to Raghunath, the elephant also injured Luski Soren from Pokharia village and Sarveswar Singh from Tadki village.
In a separate incident, a woman named Sakra, the wife of Turam Hembram, was killed by a tusker in Ulidihi village of Gholmuha panchayat around 6:00 am on Tuesday. The same elephant later attacked Suga Mahant from Anua village, leaving him severely injured. The injured individuals have been admitted to PRM Medical College and Hospital, operated by the Forest Department.
