Odisha Reports 2,759 dengue cases; Sundargarh and Khordha worst hit

Bhubaneswar, Aug 27: Odisha has reported 2,759 dengue-positive cases out of 70,000 tests conducted so far, according to Public Health Director Dr. Nilakantha Mishra.
Addressing the dengue situation in the state, Dr. Mishra highlighted that Sundargarh district has recorded the highest number of cases, with 865 patients testing positive for the virus. Khordha district follows closely, with 837 cases, of which more than 500 are from Bhubaneswar alone.
Dr. Mishra expressed concern that the number of dengue cases could rise further due to the unusually high rainfall this year, which creates favorable conditions for mosquito breeding. However, he assured that preventive measures and awareness campaigns have been implemented well in advance to curb the spread of the disease.
The health department is intensifying efforts to monitor and control the situation, urging citizens to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from mosquito bites.
